Use & Care: Before First Use: Remove all labels. Rinse pans and dry immediately with a lint-free cloth. Good Cook Pre-seasoned Cast Iron cookware is already seasoned so you can start cooking immediately. Cast Iron cookware performs best when heated gradually and has excellent heat retention so a lower heat setting is recommended to prevent food from sticking. Stovetop Use: Caution: Handles get hot during stovetop use. Please use potholders for safety. GoodCook Pre-seasoned Cast Iron cookware is ideal for use with all conventional stovetops, including electric, gas, ceramic, glass, and induction stoves. When cooking on glass or ceramic stove, lift cookware when maneuvering, and be careful not to drop cookware onto stovetop as this may result in damage to glass or ceramic stovetops. Oven Use: GoodCook Pre-seasoned Cast Iron cookware is oven safe to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). Please use caution when handling pans during oven use as handles will get hot. When lifting handles and lids, or when removing pans from the oven, use oven gloves or mitts for your safety. Do not use under the broiler. Kitchen Safety: Please use caution when handling pans as handles will get hot. Never leave a pan unattended over high heat or allow contents to boil dry; extended heating without liquid may cause permanent damage to your pan. Do not use GoodCook Cast Iron cookware in microwave ovens. Utensils: GoodCook Pre-seasoned Cast Iron cookware is safe to use with metal, nylon, silicone, or wood utensils. Cleaning: For best cooking results, always keep your GoodCook Pre-seasoned Cast Iron cookware clean. Allow pans to cool prior to washing. Submerging hot pans in cold water can cause cookware to warp. GoodCook Pre-seasoned Cast Iron cookware is not dishwasher safe. Hand washing with a nylon bristle scrub brush is recommended. Do not use abrasive cleansers, steel wool, or steel scouring pads during cleaning. Doing so can cause damage to exterior and interior of cookware. If necessary, a pan scraper can be used for stuck on food. Rinse pans and dry immediately and thoroughly with a lint-free cloth or paper towel. Soap is not necessary but a small amount of mild liquid dishwashing soap can be used if preferred. Acidic or alkaline foods may react with the seasoning resulting in some dark residue on a towel when cleaning. This is normal and will diminish with regular use and care. Apply a light coating of vegetable oil to cookware to keep from rusting after each use and store in a dry, cool place. Seasoning: GoodCook Pre-seasoned Cast Iron cookware comes pre-seasoned for your convenience and improves the more you cook. However, re-seasoning is recommended if you notice food sticking, if cookware develops a dull, gray color or rust appears to keep cookware in optimal cooking condition. To re-season, wash cookware with hot soapy water and a stiff brush and rinse and dry completely. Apply a light coating of vegetable shortening to the entire surface of the pan. Place aluminum foil on lower rack of oven to catch drippings. Place pan in oven upside down and bake at 350 degrees F (176 degrees C) for 1.5 hours. Remove cookware from oven with oven mitts and allow to cool. Once cool, wipe off excess shortening with paper towel.
